Visitor centre in the ecovillage Brodowin

Adventure exhibition on the subject of organic farming

The ecovillage Brodowin is planning an interactive information and visitor centre on the topics of “Organic farming, sustainable land use and nature conservation and tourism”. In the context of this project, we have developed a project study in cooperation with the board of the Ökodorf Brodowin e.V. which forms the basis for an application for funding from the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU).

Unique visitor centre

While there are numerous exhibitions on agriculture, historical land use and nutrition, Germany lacks a comprehensive visitor centre where visitors can discover the topic of organic farming in an exciting way.

We approached the Ökodorf Brodowin e.V. with this idea, developed a concept and ideas for interactive exhibits, which are oriented to the specific environment as well as involving inhabitants of the region and visitors equally.

Education for sustainable development as a guideline

The concept of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) served as the pedagogical-didactical guideline. Taking the competence approach into account, we designed innovative interaction possibilities that allow visitors to make their own decisions and simulate behaviour. In this way, not only the competence to act could be strengthened, but also a change in environmental behaviour could be achieved by ‘practicing’ actions.
